Who We Are
Every project we take on is one we're genuinely proud of. We're selective about our work because we care about the outcome — not just at handover, but for years down the road.
the company story
Kevin Warren established Fifth & Dune with a single standard—to build homes worth passing down. Homes that are well-constructed and beautiful, certainly, but more importantly, homes that become part of a family's story for generations to come. The name reflects our foundation. Fifth Avenue represents the famous saying by Tom Wolfe, “one belongs to it as much as in five minutes as in five years” highlighting the level of craft and attention every project deserves, while Dune speaks to where we belong: Westhampton Beach to Montauk, where salt air and shifting landscapes require builders who understand both the environment and what it means to create something enduring.
We operate from a restored 1895 building, and there is something fitting about working from a structure with its own history—one that has been brought back to life while serving the present. This approach of honoring what came before while building for what's ahead guides every project we undertake. Our work encompasses custom ground-up construction, major renovations that transform how our clients live, and historic preservation that respects the past while meeting today's standards. Each project presents unique challenges, but the standard by which we execute remains constant.
the foundation
Passion drives everything we do. Not as a hollow promise, but as a genuine commitment that shapes every decision we make. This is consuming work, and it requires the highest level of dedication to get it right.
Transparency defines our relationships with clients. We communicate openly about timelines, budgets, and challenges as they arise—which they inevitably do—eliminating surprises and keeping communication straightforward and timely.
Craftsmanship separates good construction from work that endures. Every detail carries weight: the way a banister meets the hand, how natural light moves through a room at different hours of the day, where sight lines lead as you enter. We are builders, but our work demands more than technical skill. It requires an understanding of proportion and permanence, the patience to resolve complex details, and the mastery of craft needed to execute what an architect envisions and our clients need.
Partnership between builder and client determines everything about how a project unfolds. This work requires genuine collaboration and open communication —values that Fifth & Dune prides itself on. We invest years together during projects, and those relationships matter as much as the structures we create.
Fifth and Dune is guided by three principles: honesty about what is achievable, creativity when plans require rethinking, and direction when critical conversations are necessary. These values shape how we approach every aspect of our work, from initial consultations to final walkthroughs.
Our team brings this understanding to every site. Project managers who know their work in its entirety. Superintendents who identify potential problems before they materialize. Foremen who maintain uncompromising standards throughout construction.
What we build extends beyond structures. We build relationships and reputations through work that reflect both the families who will live within these walls and the place where it stands.
Fifth & Dune. Built right.
